You'll use this to access your tracking URL and see your splits on race day.
Download the Overland app
Overland runs silently in the background on your iPhone — even while playing music with the screen locked. It's what sends your location to the map during the race.
Configure Overland with your tracking URL. Takes about 5–7 minutes — do this somewhere quiet so you don't miss a step.

You'll stay in iPhone Settings first, then Overland — no switching back and forth~5 min
1Tap the copy button ⧉ above to copy your tracking URL — you'll paste it into Overland shortly
2Open your iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Overland → set to Always · make sure Precise Location is ON. Without "Always", Overland can't track in the background.
3Still in iPhone Settings: go to General → Background App Refresh → confirm it's On and Overland is enabled. Without this, iOS pauses Overland when the screen locks and your location stops updating.
4Now open Overland → tap Settings (⚙ icon, bottom-right) → slide the "SLIDE TO UNLOCK" bar at the top to unlock changes
5Tap "Server URL" at the very top → clear whatever's there → paste your tracking URL → tap Done
6Under IOS SETTINGS: "Continuous Tracking Mode" → Both · "Desired Accuracy" → Best · "Activity Type" → Fitness
7Still under IOS SETTINGS: "Show Background Location Indicator" → Yes · "Pause Updates Automatically" → No
8Scroll to OVERLAND SETTINGS: "Min Time Between Points" → 2m · "Min Distance Between Points" → Off
9Tap the Tracker tab (📍 pin icon, bottom-left) → drag the Send Interval slider all the way to the left (minimum ~30 sec). This controls how often Overland actually sends to the map — leaving it high means the map won't update.
10Tap Settings tab again → if the "SLIDE TO UNLOCK" bar reappeared, slide it again → flip "Tracking Enabled" → On. You'll see a location arrow ↑ in your iPhone status bar.

Background Tracking
Currently OFF — your location won't be recorded until you enable it.
Turn ON to test right now — your dot will appear live on the map. Turn OFF when you're done testing so you don't appear on the map before race day.
Protect your battery during the race
The course is rural with limited cell coverage. Follow these steps so your phone makes it to the finish line.
Charge your phone to 100% the night before
Plug in before you go to bed on May 29th
Download your music / playlist for offline listening
Spotify: tap ↓ on any playlist · Apple Music: tap ⊕ then download · Streaming burns both data and battery
On race morning: turn WiFi OFF before you start
Settings → WiFi → Off. Your phone wastes battery hunting for networks that don't exist on the course.
Do NOT turn on Low Power Mode during the race
It blocks background location updates and will stop your tracking completely.
Keep Overland running — do not force-quit it
Swipe up to home screen is fine. Do not swipe Overland away in the app switcher.
